NES emulator scene

The Nintendo Entertainment System emulator scene is strong and active. Nestopia is available for win32, OSX, and Linux.
ROMs are found everywhere and remain under copyright.
Along with the excellence of Nestopia is the ZNES emulator which has a devout following. And that's not all, seems that the NEST, with over a 20 million fanbase has all kinds of weird and wacked out emulators on the 'net. Everything from play right in your browser to emulators that work on Playstation Linux or in the iPod.
This machine is reproduced far and wide and if you want to play it right now, try doing a google search for NES online or download the ZNES or Nestopia Emulator from this site or other emulator fan sites.
The online emulators are alright but it Netplay doesn't seem to be there nor do the emulators function as well as the binary counterparts that run on your PC or Mac. -SGen

Nintendo 64 emulation scene

You can emulate the N64 nicely on your PC, Mac, or Ubuntu. Many years have been spent on creating N64 emulators - namely Project 64 for win32 and Sixty Force for Mac.
The Nintendo 64 was a powerhouse of a machine and the Pentium 100's at the time did not have much of a chance at emulating the 64bit Risc PowerPC chip, not to mention the silicon graphics reality coprocessor.
Nowadays, your mp3 player can emulate it.
Sixty Force will put a modern dual core system through its paces but will still maintain a smooth 30fps with near perfect audio. -RK
