Catakig was written by Colin Klipsch. The emulator supports all Apple II models up to, but not including, the Apple IIGS. Catakig runs on PowerPC Macs under OSX 10.3 and later, and on Intel Macs under OSX 10.4 and later. This emulator reproduces the Apple II computers extremely well - even to the point of reproducing the curious graphical quirks and anomolies of the systems.

OSXII is an Apple //e emulator based on previous work by David Empson, Randy Frank, Ben Koning, Doug Kwan and others. It is currently in development by Axel Bauer. It uses and extends the functionality of an older emulator for Unix and X11 called YAE (Yet Another Apple Emulator). The latest version supports Intel hardware and was updated in the last quarter of 2006. ROMs are not included in the install but can be found at the Asimov Apple II Archive.

KEGS and bernie ][ the rescue are full Apple IIGS emulators for modern Macs (including Intel Macs). KEGS was written by Kent Dickey (Kent's Emulated GS) and requires a ROM image.
